Industrial park to be set up in Punjab

SHENZEN (China), Nov 21: A modern industrial park equipped with advanced IT facilities and technology will be set up in Punjab in cooperation with China.

The government of Punjab will give land for the project and Shenzen will provide investment and technology. A memorandum of understanding to this effect was signed during a visit by Punjab Chief Minister Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif to internationally known industrial park here.

The Mayor of Shenzen said on the occasion he had received instructions from Beijing to extend all possible cooperation to the chief minister. The memorandum of understanding was signed by Shenzen’s director general of industries and Punjab’s secretary for commerce and investment.

The mayor also said that the Chinese people were awaiting a visit to China by Pakistan Muslim League-N chief Mian Nawaz Sharif. He praised the services of Mr Nawaz Sharif for strengthening China-Pakistan relations and asked the chief minister to convey his invitation to Mian Nawaz Sharif to visit China as soon as possible.

Later, Mian Shahbaz Sharif went to Hong Kong, concluding his visit to China.
