US rice falls

CHICAGO, Nov 22: US rough rice futures on the Chicago Board of Trade fell to contract lows across the board on Friday, with the spot month hitting an 11-month low on recession fears, traders said.

January closed 10 cents lower at $13.31-1/2 per cwt, after falling to $13.11. March ended 4-1/2 cents down at $13.55.

Volume was light to moderate estimated at 715 futures.

The Philippines is planning to import 10,000 tons of aromatic rice, possibly from Thai-land and Vietnam-government.—Reuters
