Jalil, Iman lift tennis titles

LAHORE, Nov 23: Jalil Khan and Iman Qureshi won men and women’s titles in the 25th Governor Punjab tennis championship in Faisalabad on Sunday.

Jalil, the brother of national champion Aqeel Khan, defeated Jibran Mohammadi 6-4, 6-4 in the one-side final.

An upcoming Iman proved too tough for Shela Nazir, wrapping up the final 6-2, 6-0.

After dropping two points in the first set, Iman was ruthless in the second as she gave no chance to her rival.

In the boys’ U-17 title, Heera Ashiq outclassed Imran Shakeel 6-3, 6-2.

Finals’ results:

Men’s singles: Jalil Khan bt Jibran Mohammadi 6-4, 6-4.

Men’s doubles: Shahzad Khan-Shahid Khan bt Asim Shafik-Jibran Mohammadi 6-3, 6-2.

Boys’ U-17: Heera Ashiq bt Imran Shakeel 6-3, 6-2.

Boys’ U-13: Ahmed Baber bt Zubair 6-4, 1-6, 6-4.

Men’s veterans’: M. Baber-Laeeq Pirzada bt Gul Hameed-Mansur Habib 6-3, 6-3.

Ladies’ singles: Iman Qureshi bt Shela Nazir 6-2, 6-0.—Sports Reporter
