ISLAMABAD, Nov 23: The Indian shooting team established their supremacy on the second day of the fourth South Asian Shooting Championship claiming six gold medals, in the individual and team event, at the Gun Club of Pakistan Sports Complex on Sunday. Indian marksmen stunned fellow competitors from Sri Lanka, Nepal, Pakistan and Bangladesh when they clinched all three individual medals in the 50m prone rifle men’s event.

Ram Kumar, from India posted an impressive score of 695.5 in the 50m followed by compatriot Lal Hriet Sang with a score of 688.9 to grab a silver while Manooj Kumar took a bronze scoring 688.8.

In the 25m rapid fire pistol (individual) men’s event Vijay Kumar from India posted a match-best 783.7 while fellow Indian Pemba Tamang claimed a silver medal scoring 758.1Pakistan’s Mushtaqeem Shah managed to claim the bronze medal finishing at 746.9.

Pakistani sharpshooter Usman Sadiq led the field of the trap individual men’s event securing a gold with 112. Birendeep Sodhi from India clinched silver medal scoring 105 as his compatriot Anwar Sultan confirmed a bronze with a tally 103.

Bapu Vanjare from India won a gold medal in the 10m air pistol men’s (individual) event posting a score of 674.5 and followed by Om Parkash scoring 668.7 grabbing a silver medal. Idrees Rasheed from Pakistan took a bronze medal finishing with a score of 668.0.

In the men’s team event Indian marksmen spelled doom for their opponents claiming three gold medals in 50m prone rifle, trap and 10m air pistol event.

The Indians posted an unmatchable score of 1767 in 50m prone rifle men’s team event grabbing a gold medal and were followed by Pakistani with 1737 to claim silver and Bangladesh finished with a bronze with 1722.

In the trap event Indian shooting team scored 310 and remained on top of the points table winning a gold medal. Pakistan finished with a score of 293 to clinch a silver medal while Sri Lanka took a bronze medal scoring 122.

Pakistan missed a gold medal finishing with a score of 1700 in 10m air pistol event losing the gold by five points to India which clinched the gold medal 1705.

Bangladesh grabbed a bronze medal closing at a score of 1624. India is now on the top of the medals table taking away a total of 12 medals followed by Pakistan with six medals.
