DADU, Nov 26: The district council unanimously passed a resolution on Wednesday demanding that the Indus Highway be made double track from Sehwan to Ratodero.

Abid Hussain Lakhair tabled the resolution, stating that the construction of double track from Sehwan to Ratodero had been approved formally by former Prime Minister Zafraullah Jamali at a cost of Rs2.5 billion.

But when the National Highways Authority started work on Ratodero-Larkana section of the highway cancelled work on Sehwan-Ratodero section, he said.

Sikandar Hussain Leghari demanded inquiry into use of advance payments made to contractors for the repair of Jamshoro-Dadu section of the highway. Ali Sher Leghari moved a motion, stating that the district administration had stopped releasing development funds to 39 union council nazims of Dadu Ittehad Panel, which had seriously affected work on water supply and drainage schemes.

Jahan Bano said on point of order that her father and renowned poet Ahmed Khan Madhosh had been suffering from cancer in a Karachi hospital and demanded that the district and provincial governments bear expenses of his treatment.
