NAWABSHAH, Dec 2: Residents of a village have sought the president’s help for the recovery of their families, including women from police custody.

People of Khair Shah village while talking to reporters at the press club on Tuesday urged President Asif Zardari to ensure safe recovery of their family members.

Allah Wasayo alias Shamsuddin Kathio, Mohammad Mithal Kathio, Talib Hussain and Gul Hassan said that on Nov 24 police from Nawabshah and Hyderabad, in at least 30 mobiles, raided their village and after searching the place arrested a number of people.

Police raided their village again the next day and after damaging household items arrested a number of men and women without producing any warrants.

Mohammad Mithal Kathio said that his wife Farida 35, his brother Mohammad Irfan, Mohammad Anwar, uncle Mohammad Ayoub and a cousin Ms Beela were taken away by police. He said that Beela has an eight- month-old suckling daughter waiting for her mother to feed her.

He further said that they were all poor people working day and night to earn livelihood for their families. He further said that they were living peacefully and had no connections with criminals or were in any way related to the kidnapping of EDO Health Tando Allahyar Abdul Jalil Bachani.

Talib Hussain said that his newly-married sister-in-law Asiya too, had been arrested by police. Gul Hassan said that he and his brother live in Dubai awhile police arrested his sister-in-law Shahnaz and her year old baby was inconsolable without the mother.

They said that police had come in search of one Jurio Kathio allegedly wanted in the kidnapping of Dr Bachani, whereas they were not related to him. They said that police had shifted the arrested people to some other place because of which they don’t know how they were.

Area influentials and elected representatives were not at all ready to share their agony on the plea that they can do nothing in this case.
