LAHORE, Dec 13: In an effort to curb corruption and inefficiency, all district officers (DOs) of environment are to be brought under the supervision of provincial environment protection department (EPD) after taking them from the control of respective district governments.

Environmental Protection Agency director-general Dr Shagufta Shahjehan said on Saturday that the directive, which was issued by EPD Secretary Zafar Nasrullah, meant that the DOs would be assessed for their district’s industrial pollution control, environmental sustainability, biodiversity, urban/municipal waste collection and support given to non-government organisations, to the public at large, and their technical assets and manpower.—Staff Reporter
