ISLAMABAD, Dec 15: A civil miscellaneous writ petition was filed in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday to make Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Abdul Hameed Dogar one of the respondents in his capacity as a common citizen in the case of award of additional marks to the CJP’s daughter.
The plea also sought inclusion of Islamic Medical College (IMC) through its principal and a journalist of an English-language newspaper in the list of respondents.
Iftikhar Hussain Rajpoot filed the petition through his counsel, Barrister Syed Mohammad Jawaid Iqbal Jafree, with a request to the court to hear it along with his main petition seeking court orders for Farah Hameed Dogar to file an affidavit revealing the circumstances in which she had her marks enhanced and to, under penalties of perjury, give names and contribution of those who assisted her.
In his petition, Mr Rajpoot has sought that the journalist who highlighted the case be called in the court in person on January 15, the next hearing date, along with all documentation including tape of his conversation with the CJP for examination.
The petitioner has further argued that “under the Islamic principles, no one was above the law, whereas the CJP had set a very bad example even for his own daughter.”
He requested the court to direct all the respondents to file their answers before January 1, so that the case was not delayed any further.
