ISLAMABAD, Dec 15: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Abdul Hameed Dogar on Monday took suo motu notice on a reported murder of Mohammad Irshad, who died of police torture, and ordered Bahawalpur police officer to appear before the court on Friday and submit a detail report.
The suo motu notice was issued on the complaint of Bashiran Begum who had stated that Acting Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Headquarters Bahawalpur Nazir Ahmed in connivance with his sons tortured her son to death on September 29.
The chief justice also ordered the district police officer Bahawalpur to bring along with him the complainant, Ms Bashiran, and the then acting deputy superintendent of police (DSP) headquarters Bahawalpur Nazir Ahmed. —Staff Reporter
