KARACHI, Dec 21: Top seed Ali Mehdi who won the national U-19 title last year, cruised into the men’s singles second round by clearing the first hurdle in the ongoing Sindh Open badminton championship at the PSB Coaching Centre on Sunday.

Serving in KPT, Mehdi inflicted a 21-9, 21-12 victory over Shabbir in the opener.

Second seed Harrison also joined him in the next round by getting the better of Zulfiqar 21-3, 21-5.

Similarly, top seed Monisha Kotia who was twice crowned national U-16 champion, eased into the women’s singles next stage disposing off Saba Mughal 21-6, 21-9.
