HYDERABAD, Dec 24: A training session was held to introduce scientific methods for handling hospital waste and disposal practices at the Liaquat University Hospital’s Jamshoro and Hyderabad branches.

The training organised by the Umeed Foundation in collaboration with UNDP-GEF for the hospital’s administration, senior doctors, officials of Environment Protection Agency and members of the Waste Management Team at the office of medical superintendent focused on various aspects of hospital waste management such as identification of the quantum of actual problems, scope of the project and strategies to achieve the goals.

The training contents included work plan and scheme for segregation of the waste at the points of generation, colour-coding system of waste bins, safe practices of handling the waste through proper collection and storage and final disposal methods.

The administrator of the foundation announced that more training sessions would be organised under the hospital waste management project.
