KARACHI, Dec 30: A comprehensive plan has been chalked out to maintain a smooth flow of traffic on New Year’s Eve when people in large numbers generally visit the Clifton beach and move around the city, says a press release.

According to the traffic diversion plan, there will be one-way traffic flow from China Chowrangi (Ali Baba) up to Akhtar Colony intersection via Sea View, Village restaurant and Khayaban-i-Ittehad. Khayaban-i-Ittehad will be closed to all vehicles coming from the Akhtar Colony traffic signal.

However, two-way traffic will be allowed to move from Hoshing Chowk up to China Chowrangi (Ali Baba) via Clifton Bridge, Teen Talwar, Chartered Accountants Avenue Road, Chawdhry Khaliquz Zaman Road, Khayaban-i-Roomi, Boat Basin, Khayaban-i-Saadi, Bilawal Chowrangi, Khayaban-i-Ghalib, Ziauddin Hospital roundabout towards China Town Restaurant.

No vehicle shall be allowed to move towards Doe Talwar roundabout from Schon Circle traffic signal, except those residing in the locality.

Similarly, traffic coming from Bilawal Chowrangi will not be permitted to move towards Clifton helipad. Khayaban-i-Firdosi will be completely closed to traffic except the area residents.

Heavy traffic coming from Mauripur Road and moving towards Boat Basin via Mai Kolachi Bypass shall be diverted towards Site area. However, light vehicles, including cars and motorcycles, can use Mai Kolachi Bypass to reach Boat Basin. All heavy vehicles coming from the Korangi Industrial Area will be diverted from Qayyumabad roundabout towards Shaheed-i-Millat Road and Jail Chowrangi, Teen Hatti, Liaquatabad, Nazimabad, Habib Bank Chowk and Estate Avenue to reach their destination.

Khayaban-i-Shamsher will be closed up to Saudi Embassy signal to traffic coming from the Yamin Point, Sea View.

Motorcyclists warned

Police have cautioned motorcyclists that motorcycles without silencers will be impounded and those found riding such bikes will be arrested.

Besides, vehicle parking on the following roads and streets will be prohibited: Sharea Faisal from Sindhi Muslim up to Sindh Club; Club Road from Club Chowk up to PIDC signal; Dr Ziauddin Ahmed Road; Hoshing Road from Hoshing Chowk up to Dr Ziauddin Ahmed Road traffic signal; Abdullah Haroon Road from Club Chowk up to Clifton Bridge; Khayaban-i-Iqbal from Clifton Bridge up to Schon Circle; Khayaban-i-Roomi from Schon Circle up to Boat Basin; Khayaban-i-Saadi from Boat Basin up to China Chowrangi; Sea View road from China Chowrangi up to Village restaurant; Khayaban-i-Ittehad from the restaurant up to Khayaban-i-Hafiz signal.

Meanwhile, residents of Orangi, Baldia, Keamari, Lyari and Site towns have been advised to use the Estate Avenue, Mauripur Road, Jinnah Bridge Mai Kolachi Bypass, Bilawal Chowrangi to reach the Sea View.

Residents of North Nazimabad, Gulberg, Liaquatabad, Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Gulberg and New Karachi towns have been advised to use M.A. Jinnah Road, Garden Road, Zaibunnisa Street, Abdullah Haroon Road, Clifton Bridge, Khayaban-i-Rumi and Khayaban-i-Saadi to reach the seaside.—APP
