LAHORE, Dec 31: A plea seeking the disqualification of Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Abid Sher Ali will be fixed after the court starts working at its full strength after winter vacation ending on

Dec 31.

An official of the Lahore High Court (LHC) said since there was no urgency in its hearing, the plea was not fixed before any bench.

Earlier on Monday, Justice Nasim Sikandar cleared the plea for hearing after the registrar's office had placed objections to it.

Petitioner advocate Aftab Ahmed filed the petition and named Mr Ali, the NA speaker, the Election Commission of Pakistan and the Punjab chief secretary as respondents.

He alleged Mr Ali was elected on the basis of a forged degree and prayed that the Election Commission be directed to hold an inquiry to ascertain the facts. He also sought injunctive order to restrain Mr Ali from performing as MNA till the final outcome of the petition.
