Published January 2, 2009

SAHIWAL, Jan 1: Executive district officer (health) Dr Sirajuddin has confirmed the presence of a polio virus in a five-year-old girl of Chak 72/4-R (Jhok Sanwal) in the Sahiwal district.

The EDO (health) said the stool test report of Adeeqa, the daughter of Mazhar, got positive result which was enough to confirm the existence of polio virus.

District Surveillance Coordinator for Polio Dr Syed Qamer Shah had sent a team to the village to collect stool samples of Adeeqa and six other children living with her.

“I cannot confirm until I get Adeeqa’s final stool test report from Islamabad", Dr Qamer said.
