WANA, Jan 1: The new year dawned on South Waziristan with a US missile attack in which three suspected foreign militants were killed.

Local people said the missiles fired by a drone hit a car going from Wana to Shokai, about 10 kilometres south of Wana.

The militants killed are said to be from Turkmenistan. Two bystanders suffered injuries and were admitted to a private clinic.

Spy planes were flying over the area after the attack.

The sources said the foreigners belonged to the group of pro-government militant commander Maulvi Nazir.

An associate of Maulvi Nazir condemned the attack and warned of revenge.

He accused the government of collaborating with the US forces in Afghanistan.

US drones carried out more than 25 attacks in North and South Waziristan and Bannu district last year.
