KARACHI, Jan 3: Pakistan’s leading international boxing referee/judge Yaqoob Qambrani died at the Civil Hospital here on Saturday after remaining in coma for eight days.

Yaqoob, 72, was a qualified coach of International Amateur Boxing Association.

He supervised World Boxing Championship in late eighties and Beijing Asian Games in 1990.

His two sons, Moosa Qambrani and Obaidullah, also represented the country.

Yaqoob was buried at the Gulbai Morara Graveyard and his funeral was attended by sports organisers, boxing officials, friends and relatives.

Pakistan and Sindh Boxing Associations have expressed their condolences and lauded Yaqoob’s contributions.—APP
