SHEIKHUPURA, Jan 6: On the orders of the chief minister, Sangla Hill City police on Tuesday registered a case against Faisalabad SP (investigation), Chak Jhumra SHO and six other policemen on charges of trespassing on the house of an MPA to arrest two proclaimed offenders.

Reports said police had suspicion that POs Faqir alias Kaka and Faisal alias Billa were present at the house of MPA Tariq Mehmood Bajwa. A team, led by SP Asghar Yousaf, SHO Hafiz Imran and others conducted a raid for the arrests.

The police party, some eyewitnesses said, entered MPA’s house by scaling the boundary wall. The officials locked the family in a room, and could not find any proclaimed offender after a thorough search.

MPA Tariq Bajwa, who was not present in the house, was informed about the police action.

In the meantime, a number of residents gathered at Bajwa’s house and chanted slogans against police action.

Nankana DPO Akbar Nasir came to Sangla Hill and told journalists that the Faisalabad police’s action was illegal.

“The raiding party should have informed the respective district police, while in this case no such information was given to the Nankana police,” the DPO said.

Meanwhile, the Sangla Hill business community and citizens observed a strike on Tuesday against police ‘excesses.’

When contacted, the MPA termed it a political victimisation and said: “The police neither recovered POs nor even a pistol from my house.”

He warned of resignation from his seat if the responsible policemen were not punished.

The Faisalabad SP (investigation) was neither available at his office nor at his residence.
