HYDERABAD: Former nazim held

Published January 8, 2009

HYDERABAD, Jan 7: The Pinyari police detained a former taluka nazim and local leader of the JUP, Haji Moinuddin Sheikh, in connection with an alleged robbery.

An FIR regarding the robbery had been lodged by a policeman of Thatta, Hussain Bux, in the wake of some domestic dispute in which he had nominated his wife Shakeela and the JUP leader.

It would be pertinent to mention here that Shakeela is said to be the sister of a former driver of Mr Sheikh.

According to details, Shakeela alleged that she had married Hussain Bux a year ago but her husband had started treating her badly due to which she left him locking the house the couple had been living in. She said that Bux broke the lock open and took away valuables over which she claimed ownership.

On the other hand, Bux also levelled similar allegations on Shakeela. Both the parties had moved the judiciary and obtained a sessions court’s orders for the registration of FIRs against the alleged culprits.

However, before an FIR could be registered on the complaint of Shakeela, Hussain Bux had already got an FIR registered against her on the court’s orders.

Talking to Dawn, the former nazim and JUP leader said that he just wanted to help his former driver’s sister out of this situation. He said he went to the police station on humanitarian grounds without having a hint that Bux had already lodged an FIR pertaining to a dacoity nominating him (the former nazim) and Shakeela.

SHO Pinyari police station said that counter cases under Section 17(3) of the Hudood Ordinance had been registered and the matter was being probed by the investigation branch of the police station.

Shakeela has also been detained.
