Quake jolts parts of Balochistan

Published January 10, 2009

QUETTA, Jan 9: An earthquake of moderate intensity jolted Quetta and some parts of Pishin and Ziarat districts on Friday evening.

The tremor, measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale, lasted for more than 30 seconds. People left their homes in panic and rushed to open places.

A senior official of the meteorological department said that the epicentre of the quake was between Quetta and Pishin and it was not an aftershock of the Oct 29 quake which had claimed over 200 lives.—Staff Correspondent
