KARACHI, Jan 14: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah on Wednesday said a high-level meeting will be held in Islamabad after two days in which important decisions on energy sector will be taken.

Addressing members of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) during his visit to the Federation House he said many foreign countries had shown interest in Thar coal development projects.

The chief minister said the present government pursuing the energy vision of Benazir Bhutto has been working to make Thar coal programme a big success that is the only solution to energy crisis.

He said that the president had resolved the old dispute between the Sindh government and the federal government about rights on the Thar coal. Now, the provincial government can independently decide and pursue execution of the plan through Thar Coal Development Board under one-window facility. He was hopeful that the energy crisis will be over before the end of this year.

The chief minister said the present government wanted maximum participation of the private sector in various projects in the energy sector including the Thar coal project.

He said along with the strengthening of the agriculture sector, the government is serious to promote industry and trade in the country.

He assured the FPCCI that the concrete proposals presented on energy would be accommodated in the policies.—APP
