HYDERABAD, Jan 14: Students of the departments of communication design, textile design and fine art displayed their theses and projects on Thar coal, solar energy, archaeology, Moenjodaro, Rani Kot fort, modern textile designs, Sindhi jewellery, cultural sites of Sindh and paintings at an exhibition which opened on Tuesday.

The exhibition was inaugurated by the University of Sindh Vice-Chancellor Dr Mazharul Haq Siddiqui at the Institute of Art and Design.

The vice-chancellor said that the projects on Thar coal, art, culture as well as on solar energy would be beneficial for society and thesis on textile design would greatly help textile industry to develop new trends in fashion.

He said that the university had produced excellent talent in art, communication and textile design and it was now up to the institutes and industries to take benefit from their expertise.

He said that art and culture were essential for the improvement and uplift of society.

The university was the first to introduce the four-year BS degree program in sciences, social sciences and commerce faculties and art education, he said.

The thesis exhibition would continue till Jan 20.
