PHF academy trials

KARACHI, Jan 14: Trials to select players for PHF Academies in Karachi will be held at the Hockey Club of Pakistan (HCP) and UBL Sports Complex on Thursday.

The HCP trials for Academy no 2, to be watched by Sindh’s selection committee and the academy coaches, will be held at 10.00am.

First-day trials for Academy no 2 in Karachi were also held at Hockey Club of Pakistan Stadium. The selection committee of Sindh initially short list 16 players from the 90 who appeared for the trials. The selectors comprised Waseem Feroze (chairman), Mohammad Khalid, Mumtaz Haider, Farooq Khan and Arif Bhopali along with the academy’s coaches (Asif Ahmad, Safdar Abbas and Mohammad Anis).

Trials for academy no 1 at UBL Sports Complex will be held at 2.00pm. The same selection committee along with the coaches of Academy no 1 (Saleem Sherwani, Jan Mohammad and Mohammad Ali) will observe the trials.

Meanwhile, two-day trials for PHF Academy Peshawar concluded at the Lala Ayub Stadium Peshawar. The NWFP selection committee short listed 36 players of the 110 players in the age groups of Under-14, U-15 and U-16 appeared for the trials. The selectors were Naeem Akhtar (chairman), Zia Banori, Rahim Khan and Musaddiq Khan and the coaches of PHF hockey academy Peshawar Mussadiq Hussain, Rahim Khan and Zia Banori.—Agencies
