FAISALABAD, Jan 22: Protesters at a rally on Thursday urged people to boycott Indian products and the government to stop trade with New Delhi in protest against its aggressive attitude.

The rally under the aegis of Al-Akhyar Foundation started from Ghulam Mohammadabad and culminated at the Faisalabad Arts Council.

The protesters were carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans against India and in favour of Kashmiris and Palestinians.

Talking to reporters, some of the protesters said Kashmiris and Palestinians were being killed because of Muslim rulers’ apathetic attitude toward them. They criticised the United Nations for keeping silence on these issues.

Booked: Cases have been registered against 54 cattle owners and 31 of them have been arrested so far for keeping their animals in the city despite a ban.

On Thursday, district government officials arrested 16 cattle owners from Madina Town during an ongoing operation against the defiant cattle owners and registered cases against eight others in Iqbal Town.

The operation was initially begun in Madina, Jinnah and Lyallpur towns on the directions of the Punjab government.

Jinnah and Lyallpur town municipal officers arrested 31 buffalo owners and got registered cases against them. They also seized buffalos and slammed fines on the owners.

District Coordination Officer Saeed Iqbal says the operation against the defiant cattle owners would continue.

ACCIDENTS: Jan 22: Two people were killed and as many others injured in separate road accidents here on Thursday.

Zohaib, 20, was hit and killed by a bus on Jhumra Road near Mansoorabad.

Kashif of Chak 173-GB was run over by a car in Lundianwala.

Abdul Rahman, 38, of Khushab was going along with his friend when their motorcycle struck against a footpath near Abdullahpur. They sustained injuries and were taken to hospital.
