LAHORE, Jan 27: The International Cricket Council (ICC) in its next meeting in Perth, Australia, on Saturday will not only decide the fate of ICL players but also the result of Oval Test.

“The PCB has received a reply from the ICC that the point of the ICL player is on the agenda of the meeting where legal experts will give their input,” PCB chairman Ijaz Butt, who is going to Australia on Wednesday to attend the meeting told reporters here on Tuesday.

He said a Pakistani lawyer Fakhruddin G. Ebrahim had sent a legal notice to the PCB regarding the ban on the ICL players which the board had sent to the ICC for comment.

“The PCB received a reply from ICC President David Morgan on Wednesday, informing us that legal experts will assist the ICC in its next meeting regarding the issue,” he said.

It is learnt that former Pakistan captain Moin Khan sent the notice through the lawyer.

Moreover, it is learnt that the ICC has also decided to include the issue of the Oval Test result in the meeting after the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) had raised objections over the game’s international governing body’s early decision of reverting umpire Daryl Hair’s decision of declaring England as winners.

Hair took the decision after Pakistan captain Inzamam refused to play when umpires had imposed five-run penalty on Pakistan for tampering with the ball.

But as the ICC had reverted the decision, declaring the Test as abandoned, without taking advice from its cricket committee headed by Sunil Gavaskar, the MCC’s objection has further forced the ICC to review it.

While the MCC will be fighting the case it looks difficult for the PCB to get seven votes out of ten to retain the decision.

Moreover, a detailed presentation will be given to the ICC by PCB chairman Ijaz Butt to retain Pakistan as the host of the next ICC Champions Trophy in October as the country has successfully organised the three-match series against Sri Lanka.
