LAHORE, Jan 31: The Netherlands’ Larensche Mixed Hockey Club has forbidden Pakistan players Rehan Butt and Salman Akbar from representing any other team — including national squad — till May.

In a letter to the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF), the club said the two players had signed contracts with them which clearly stated their availability for the Dutch Hoofdklasse Competition which will conclude on May 25.

This means that Rehan and Salman will not be able to represent Pakistan at the Azlan Shah Cup in April and the Asia Cup in May.

The club added they were satisfied with the players and had high expectations from them in the second half of the competition.

Meanwhile, PHF secretary Asif Bajwa showed disappointment on the letter and said the federation would take a decision after meeting with Rehan Butt and Salman Akbar.—Agencies
