KASUR, Feb 1: A union council naib nazim was thrashed with shoes by a lady councillor and other women on Sunday for his alleged embezzlement in the Chief Minister Food Stamp Scheme at Mann union council in the limits of Saddar police station.

Reports said that there was some dispute over the distribution of money between lady councillor Anees Fatima and naib nazim Zulfiqar Bhutto.

On Sunday morning, the lady councillor along with other women came to the office of the naib nazim and alleged that he was giving preference to his favourites over the deserving people of the area in the distribution of money.

When the naib nazim used abusive language, Anees Fatima picked up his shoes and started beating him. Later, other women, including those accompanying the lady councillor and the general public, also joined her. Some villagers, however, intervened and brought the situation under control.

The lady councillor also submitted an application with the Saddar police alleging that the naib nazim was involved in embezzling the amount of the food stamp scheme.

It was learnt that the naib nazim was trying to reconcile with the lady councillor with the help of the elite of the area.
