LAHORE, Feb 3: The Pakistan Cricket Board Chief Operating Officer (COO) Saleem Altaf, has refuted the claim that he had expressed his consent to the International Cricket Council (ICC) to change the Oval Test decision in favour of England.

Speaking to the media, Saleem pointed out that the PCB came to know about the development when the ICC included the Oval Test fiasco in the agenda of the meeting, which was held at Perth, Australia last weekend.

He denied that the same point was also discussed in the chief executive meeting of the ICC, which was held at Cape Town on Dec 7 and 8, in which he gave the consent to the ICC to change the early decision, declaring England as winner.

“Neither the point of the Oval Test was on the agenda in the Cape Town meeting nor was it discussed there,” Saleem said.

When the ICC included the point of Oval Test in the agenda of its Perth meeting on the demand of the MCC, the PCB prepared two legal opinions, one of Shan Gul and another one of Ahmad Hussain. PCB chairman Ijaz Butt went to Perth with two legal opinions as the Board had decided to fight the case, he added.

He said as the ICC was running on democratic basis, it accepted the decision of the members, since the MCC had also raised objection over the early decision.
