LAHORE, Feb 7: Prime Minister Gilani on Saturday denied any government pressure in releasing nuclear scientist Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan and said he was released on a judicial verdict.

Briefly talking to newsmen at his residence here on Saturday, he said, “I have learnt about external reaction on the release of the scientist through media. No foreign dignitary talked to me over the issue.”

Answering a question about electoral eligibility case of PML-N leaders Mian Nawaz Sharif and Mian Shahbaz Sharif, he said their case was in the court and government could not interfere in it.

He said Mian Nawaz Sharif's statement about his disqualification was his own opinion.

He said PPP wanted to strengthen democratic institutions in the country and had good relations with all political parties which were given mandate by the masses in the last elections.

About senate elections, he said "elections are game of numbers and as PPP enjoys numerical strength in all the four provinces it will have good position in the senate elections.”--APP
