LONDON, Feb 8: A 12-member delegation led by Arif Allauddin, the chief executive of the Alternative Energy Development Board (AEDB), and comprising mostly representatives from Pakistan’s private sector is expected to arrive here next week on five-day study tour of Britain’s wind farms.

The main objective of the delegation is said to be to meet leaders of British businesses in wind energy generation and allied industries and brief them on the scope and opportunities in the alternative sector in Pakistan.

Pakistan is said to be looking for long- term cooperation with British Wind Energy Association and the Pakistan High Commission in Britain has been in contact with Mike O’ Brien MP, Minister of State for department for energy and climate change.

The first call of the delegation is on February 16 at the UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) Offices where its members would interact with members of British Hydro Power Association, British Wind Energy Association, and the UK Renewables & Renewable Energy Association.

During the interaction, a number of presentations are expected to be made by both sides followed by roundtable discussions.

The following day the delegation will visit a wind farm in Scotland and have a roundtable discussion with the members of Scottish Development International. It will also visit New & Renewable Energy Centre Ltd. (NaREC) in Northumberland.

On Feb 19 the delegation will hold meetings in London with British experts on wind energy. The UKTI at the Deputy British High Commission, Karachi, are part sponsoring and organising the delegation’s visit.
