KARACHI, Feb 12: Pakistan’s star batsman Mohammad Yousuf will make an appearance at the Karachi Press Club’s ‘Meet the Press’ programme on Saturday at 3:00pm at its premises.
Yousuf, currently ineligible for international cricket because of his links with the rebel Indian Cricket League (ICL), where he played for Lahore Badshahs, holds the world record of most Test runs in a calendar year. He amassed 1,788 runs in 11 matches in 2006 to surpass the previous mark of 1,710 runs (also in 11 Tests) set by legendary West Indian Sir Vivian Richards in 1976.
The 34-year-old Yousuf, who made his international debut in early 1998, has scored 6,670 runs (ave 55.49) in 79 Tests with 23 centuries and 28 half-centuries and 9,942 runs (ave 43.18) in 269 One-day Internationals with 15 hundreds and 62 fifties.
Among the Pakistanis, only Javed Miandad and Inzamam-ul-Haq have scored more Test runs than Yousuf while just Inzamam has made more ODI runs than his Lahore Badshahs team-mate.
