PESHAWAR/TANK, Feb 12: Police have not found any information about terrorists involved in Wednesday’s bomb blast which killed Awami National Party’s MPA Alam Zeb Khan.

SSP Investigation Mian Ghulam Mohammad told Dawn on Thursday that several suspects had been detained and were being interrogated. He said investigators were looking at the terrorist act from various angles, because the explosive used in the attack was similar to the material which caused recent blasts in Peshawar.

Meanwhile, Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan based in Orakzai Agency has claimed responsibility for the blast and threatened to continue attacks on lawmakers if the military operation was not stopped.

TTP leader Hakeemullah Mehsud also threatened to continue attacks on leaders of the Awami National Party. He accused the ANP of being involved in the killing of innocent people in Fata and different parts of the NWFP.

NWFP Minister for Information Mian Iftikhar Hussain told Dawn that the death of Alam Zeb Khan was a national loss and the killers shouldn’t be called Muslims.

Killing innocent people, he said, was no service to Islam; it was an act against Islam and against humanity.

He said the ANP leadership would not be cowed down by such cowardly acts. He said that thousands of ANP workers were ready to sacrifice their lives like Alam Zeb.

Mian Iftikhar said the ANP had come to power through public mandate for five years and it would never surrender to militants and continue to render sacrifices for the people of the province.

He appealed to the people to support the government in its efforts to restore peace, develop the province and improve people’s lives.
