Man commits ‘suicide’

ISLAMABAD, Feb 16: A man apparently ‘committed suicide’ by shooting himself with a pistol over unknown reasons here on Monday, police said.

A Rescue-15 official deployed at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences informed the Tarnol police that an injured man was brought to the hospital by his family members.

When the police reached the hospital the injured had died. The victim was identified as Shah Faisal, 20, a resident of Dhoke Abbas, and a labourer by profession. He had married six months ago.

The police quoted the victim’s family as saying that Faisal committed suicide by shooting himself in his house. They said the incident took place when the male members of the family had gone to work and only his mother, wife and sister-in-law were in the house.

They said the females heard a gunshot and found Faisal in a pool of blood inside the house. The male members were informed who arrived at the house and took him to the hospital.

The family members also told the police that the victim drove in distress after his father snubbed him in the morning over a petty issue. The police are investigating the incident as it seemed suspicious. They also recovered the 30-bore unlicensed pistol believed to be used in the ‘suicide’. —Staff Reporter
