GUJRANWALA, Feb 17: The local anti-terrorism court No. 2 has acquitted 33 suspects including Kharian tehsil nazim and his brother in the murder of four constables following a compromise.

Tehsil Nazim Nadeem Asghar Kaira, his brother Zaheer Asghar Kaira and their accomplices allegedly opened fire on a police party which raided a plaza to evict illegal occupants on June 15, 2008, killing constables Imran, Tariq Mehmood, Ishtiaq and Sheraz Ahmad. The suspects later approached the heirs of the victims and reached a compromise after which the court acquitted them.—Correspondent
