CHARSADDA: Night curfew in Shabqadar

Published February 22, 2009

CHARSADDA, Feb 21: Night curfew was clamped on Shabqadar and adjacent areas of the district on Saturday.

Officials said police made announcements from mosque loudspeakers asking people to stay indoors during the curfew from 8pm to 8am.

District Police Officer Mohammad Riaz Khan, when contacted, said the curfew would remain imposed during night in Shabqadar, Michini road and other adjacent areas to prevent any untoward incident. He said the curfew would be lifted in a few days.

He said the decision to impose the curfew had been taken in view of the military operation in the adjacent Mohmand and Bajaur tribal regions.

Meanwhile, MPA Mohammad Ali Khan Mohmand visited the Shabqadar Civil Hospital and expressed resentment over doctors’ private practice during duty hours.

He warned the hospital staff that strict disciplinary action would be taken against officials who were found absent from duty.
