HYDERABAD, Feb 22: District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil on Saturday inaugurated the road to the railway station, which had been reconstructed at a cost of Rs150 million.
He said that it was the most important road in the City taluka, which would provide benefit the people of interior Sindh who visited the city every day to buy and sell in bulk.
He said that when the district government was came to power, it faced severe problems, which had accumulated over the years because of years of neglect.
He said that major problem confronting the new government was that of water supply and sewerage system, which had completely collapsed. Since the Station road was the busiest of the city it was necessary to construct a big sewerage drain to save it from damage.
Mr Jamil said that encroachment was a big menace and before a campaign to clear them, announcements had been made to enable people and shopkeepers to vacate footpaths on voluntary basis.
Footpaths were for pedestrians and roads for vehicles, he said and warned that no one would be allowed to encroach upon footpaths or roads.
He called upon people to realise their civic responsibilities in this regard.
City Taluka Nazim Ghulam Shabbar Chishti, DCO Aftab Ahmed Khatri, project director HDP Syed Faraz Ali Shah and a large number of councilors, government officials and members of general public attended the inauguration ceremony.
WARD: The district nazim laid the foundation stone for a ward at the Paretabad government hospital which would be constructed at a cost of Rs30 million and completed by June this year.
He said that the hospital would have 90 beds after completion of this ward, and it would provide facilities to a population of 500,000 at their doorstep. He said the hospital would be converted into a ultramodern hospital in due course of time.
He said that Paretabad had always remained one of the most neglected area of the city and, therefore, the district government was paying more attention to this area like other neglected localities.
