ISLAMABAD, Feb 23: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Monday constituted a committee to formulate the National Science and Technology Policy.

Presiding over a briefing of Comsats in his capacity as its chairman, Mr Gilani also constituted a steering committee for the Comsats meeting to be held in April 2010 and a coordination committee for utilisation of internet technology.

The meeting noted that Pakistan has to rapidly move ahead in the filed of science and technology to pass on its benefits to the common man.

Comsats was directed to monitor the performance of S&T sector for building an international image of Pakistan.

The prime minister appreciated Comsats’ efforts in promoting and advancing scientific and technological capacities and asked the member countries to galvanize their strength and forge greater solidarity and cooperation in the fields of science and technology.
