SUKKUR, Jan 5: Dozens of Pathan tribesmen staged a sit-in on the Sukkur bypass following the murder of their man in the limits of Site police station on Sunday.
Some five armed men entered a tent of a Pathan gypsy family and tried to steal goats. When they met resistance from the inmates, they opened fire as a result Karim Khan, son of Alam Khan, was killed on the spot.
The police reached the spot and shifted the body to the civil hospital for postmortem. In the meantime dozens of Pathan tribesmen reached the hospital and took the body without postmortem. They staged a sit-in on the bypass which continued for three hours due to which traffic came to a standstill.
HIGHWAYMEN: A group of highwaymen looted the passengers of a Thull-bound coach on the National Highway near Kazi Ahmed on Sunday night. The passenger coach (QMM-730) on its way to Thull town from Karachi when reached near Kazi Ahmed the highwaymen stopped the vehicle and deprived all the 62 passengers of cash, wristwatches, gold rings and lockets, mobile phones and other valuables.
BREACHES: Three breaches occurred in Kundri minor as a result wheat crop on 600 acres came under water while Shabbirabad village was among the affected as more than 50 houses were inundated. The villagers informed the irrigation officials but no official reached the scene till filing the report.
