ISLAMABAD, Jan 11: Former prime minister and Chairperson of Pakistan People's Party Benazir Bhutto has asked the party officials to build organizations at all levels and analyse the political standing of the likely candidates for the next elections.

According to a press release issued by the PPP media cell, Ms Bhutto issued these directive in a letter addressed to the party's secretary-general, Jehangir Badar, on Sunday.

Reminding Mr Badar of her earlier directive on the subject, she asked him to hold meetings with the members of the CEC and prepare a list of possible candidates in Punjab before the work was extended to other provinces.

She also asked him to discuss the issue of organization with the heads of the provincial organizations and advise them to hold meetings in their districts to make suggestions for their districts.

Ms Bhutto asked the party officials to redress the grievances of workers who felt ignored and alienated. She said there was need to enhance their vision and the leadership try to bring to the fore the deserving party activists. "We can achieve the desired results if we work as a team and accommodate each other to create a better understanding," she said.

Meanwhile, PPP central general secretary Raja Pervez Ashrafsaid former prime minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto had transformed Pakistan into a nuclear power of South Asia. He was speaking at a function held in connection with 75th anniversary of Mr Bhutto.

The PPP leader said his party's chairperson Benazir Bhutto had dedicated her life to the cause of masses and democracy. He said Ms Bhutto would once again lead the party workers after her return to the country soon.

On the occasion, People's Labour Bureau general-secretary Rukhsana Bashir highlighted the sacrifices rendered by common people for the party. MNA Fauzia Habib said her party would succeed in restoring democracy in the country under the leadership of Ms Bhutto. Nargis Faiz said the masses would foil the attempts being made by the opponents of country's nuclear programme.
