RAWALPINDI, Jan 12: A package of Rs150 million will be given to each district in Punjab for promotion of education, said provincial minister for law, parliamentary affairs and local bodies Mohammad Basharat Raja on Monday.

Speaking at a reception held in his honour at Kallar Syedan, he said the provincial government was making efforts for socio- economic development of the common man.

He said Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi would be requested to visit Kallar Syedan so that funds could be released for completion of mega projects in the area.

The chief minister's visit, he added, would help in setting up of hospitals, construction of roads besides solving problems being faced by educational institutions.

All-out efforts will be made to get tehsil status for Kallar Syedan, he said, adding that the step would be significant and open a new era of progress for the people of the area.

Problems like shortage of health-care facilities, water supply and poor sanitation would be solved so that the living standard of the masses could be improved, he added.

Provincial minister for public health Mushtaq Kiani said he would continue to play his role for the development of the area. "We should work for the development of our area by setting aside our differences," he added.

He said a stadium would be built in the area while the government had approved establishment of colleges for boys and girls. Rawalpindi District Nazim Raja Tariq Kiani said the provision of development funds for Kallar Syedan had been ensured.
