SUKKUR, Jan 18: Social welfare activists took out a procession and staged a sit-in in Kandhkot on Sunday to protest against illegal construction of shops in Jacobabad.

The procession started from the Iqbal Library and after passing through main roads of the city reached the Indus Highway where the participants staged a sit-in.

They warned that they would march up to the Jacobabad city if the shops, constructed by the supporters of Sindh Minister Manzoor Panhwar, were not demolished in 48 hours. They also staged a sit-in outside the house of Mr Panhwar.

JUI-F: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (Fazl) activists took out a protest procession here on Sunday against rising crime in the district, the Wana operation and Thal canal and Kalabagh dam projects.

Speaking on the occasion, Sindh JUI-F chief Maulana Mohammad Murad Halejvi and secretary-general Dr Khalid Mehmood Soomror criticized the govenment for failing to improve the law and order situation in Sindh. They also opposed the Thal canal and Kalabagh dam.
