MULTAN, Jan 20: The Lahore High Court, Multan bench, Bar on Tuesday urged the government and chief justice to withdraw detachment of Pakpattan district from the bench.

A meeting of the joint action committee demanded restoration of territorial and fiscal jurisdiction of the bench forthwith. It termed the detachment of district as unconstitutional and hence invalid.

The committee resented the attachment of the district with and shifting of corporate and other cases of Rs5 million or more value to the principal seat at Lahore.

It also urged the authorities concerned to rescind the decision of shifting of Anti-Corruption Establishment cases of Pakpattan and Sahiwal to Lahore and those of Lodhran to Bahawalpur bench.

Those who attended the meeting included Pakistan Bar Council member Mian Abbas Ahmad, Public Safety Commission chairman Sahibzada Ibrahim Khan, Chaudhry Pervez Aftab, Maulvi Sultan Alam, Abdul Aziz Khan Niazi, Bar president Ahmad Raza Bukhari, senior vice-president Rao Jamshed Ali Khan, Sheikh Naeem Koreja, ex-additional advocate general Khadim Nadeem Malik, Khalid Ashraf Khan, Mazhar Jamil Qureshi, ex-senator Malik Rafiq Rajwana and LHCBA Multan secretary general Malik Haider Jamal Maitla.-APP
