DADU, Jan 27: Adviser to Sindh chief minister on health Noman Saigal has appealed to pharmaceutical companies to supply medicines for the victim of skin disease leishmania to the district health department.
He assured the companies that as soon as the budget was released from the provincial health and finance departments to Dadu district, they would be paid for the medicines.
The adviser was talking to the Nazims, councillors, social workers and citizens here at circuit house on Monday. He said that the budget was not released to Dadu district for purchase of medicine for the last two months hence the health department was facing difficulties in providing the medicines.
He also urged the World Health Organization, United Nations Children's Fund and other international donor agencies to help control the skin disease in Kachho area.
He said that transfer and posting in the health department were being made without his consent and he had informed the Sindh governor about the interference in his department.
He said that skin and child specialists would soon be posted in remote areas of the province and transfer and posting of doctors would be made on the basis of their domiciles.
Mr Saigal said that ambulances would soon be provided to the Dadu health department as the Sindh chief minister had approved purchase of 15 ambulances for the hospitals of interior of Sindh. He said that they were going to start a programme to revamp the health system at a cost of Rs500 million.
WALK: Meanwhile, a walk was organized by an NGO in Johi to create awareness about skin disease which had spread in western belt of the district.A large number of citizens as well as political and social welfare activists participated in the walk.
