KHAIRPUR, Jan 27: A seminar was held here on Tuesday in memory of renowned poet, writer and researcher Dr Tanvir Abbasi. The event was organized by the Tanvir Abbasi Corner of the Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur , at Allama I.I. Kazi Hall of the university.

The vice-chancellor of the university, A.R. Malik, presided over the seminar while Ms Qamar Tanvir Abbasi and Dr Abdul Jabbar Junejo were the guests speakers.

The speakers paid tributes to the late Dr Tanvir Abbasi for his services and said that Dr Abbasi had played a vital role in the anti-One Unit movement and had been arrested from time to time during the Ayub and Zia regimes.

They said Dr Abbasi had carried out research on Sufism and his research works on Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai and Sachal Sarmast had already been published. Ayaz Gul, Taj Joyo, Qamar Tanvir Abbasi, Dr Abdul Jabbar Junejo, Adal Soomro, Mukhtiar Malik and others also spoke on the occasion and paid tribute to the poet.
