NAWABSHAH: Woman's body exhumed

NAWABSHAH, Jan 28: The body of a married woman was exhumed by a medical board from Haji Naseer graveyard on Tuesday to ascertain the cause of her death. The woman, Farah, was allegedly killed by Crime Investigation Cell in charge inspector Nusrat Shaikh. A complaint was lodged at the B-section police station by her husband, Shaukat Khokhar, against the inspector and three others.

A team comprising Sakrand Judicial Magistrate Ghulam Mustafa Dahri, People's Medical College Hospital medical superintendent Dr Nisar Shaikh, police surgeon Mehfooz Qureshi and lady doctor Waheeda Noorani was present at the graveyard when the body was exhumed. Dr Shaikh, who is also the head of the medical board, said samples had been taken for chemical examination.

SESSION: The taluka council, through a resolution, increased the salaries of its members from Rs2,000 to Rs6,000 per month in a session held here on Tuesday.

The meeting, presided over by convener Abdul Qayoom Arain, passed another resolution by which development schemes of Rs0.1 million would be given to women members after the Eid. It was also approved by the house that hand pumps of Rs700,000 would be installed in rural and urban areas.

Taluka Nazim Ali Akbar Jamali told the house that a water purification plant would soon be installed by the council. Meanwhile, member Liaquat Magsi staged a walk-out to protest against lack of sanitation.
