DADU, Jan 29: The Dadu taluka council here on Thursday unanimously adopted a resolution, condemning disconnection of power supply for city street lights and issuing of inflated bills by Hesco.

The resolution called on the Federal Investigation Agency to investigate into alleged corruption of Hesco staff. Abdul Majeed, tabling the resolution, said that the Sindh government had released money for paying the dues of power supply to streetlights and water supply schemes but the Hesco officials had severed the connections.

Sohrab Ahmed Solangi said that as a result water supply to many parts of the city had been suspended and the residents were facing hardships. He alleged that the Hesco officials of Dadu sub-division-I were demanding bribe for restoration of the power connections.

Basheer Ahmed Bhatti alleged that the Hesco officials were demanding bribe on monthly basis from the consumers and on their refusal they were conducting raids at their house.

Taluka Nazim Syed Zafar Ali Shah urged the FIA to take notice of the corruption and register an FIR against the Hesco officials. The council unanimously passed the resolution and demanded that the Wapda chairman should send special tams to investigate the matter.

Through another resolution, the session demanded that the provincial government should conduct an investigation into use of substandard material in construction of different schemes in Dadu city.
