FAISALABAD, Feb 6: The results of Third Professional MBBS Examination 2003, announced by the University of Health Sciences on Jan 28, were full of errors and omissions.

According to information gathered by this correspondent here on Friday, over 50 students of the Punjab Medical College had been declared pass as well as fail in the same gazette while a number of students who had passed the exam according to the gazette were now being declared fail through special notifications.

Similarly, it was noticed, nine students of the PMC who had been declared fail by the college administration were shown as passing the exam.

A PMC student, Sadia Sultana, was declared pass with 336 marks out of 600 and also declared fail. Jafar Hussain, declared pass in the gazette, has now been declared fail by the UHS through a special notification.

It is interesting to note here that six senior officials of the UHS, including the registrar, controller of examinations, assistant controller of examinations, deputy controller of examinations and master checker, had carefully checked the results and signed each and every page of the gazette.

The UHS administration termed all errors topographical to cover its negligence.

Talking to newsmen here on Friday, a group of PMC students blamed the UHS management for declaring incorrect results, claiming that almost all the officials concerned were non-professional but they had still been assigned a sensitive task. They alleged that some UHS officials were trying to extort money from students by threatening to declare them fail despite issuance of clear-cut results to the contrary.

JI leader: Kotwali police claimed on Friday night to have arrested Jamaat-i-Islami District President Zafar Husain and City Nazim Azeem Randhawa for disrupting peace and provocating people against the government during a Kashmir Day rally.
