SARGODHA, Feb 12: The government has reportedly sought a report on honour killings. It is learnt that the Sargodha police have been asked to submit a report in this regard by Feb 15 positively.
Reports said some 30 women fell victim to honour killing and 20 cases of gang-rape reported in the district during the last year. Saddar ASP Waqaruddin Syed is investigating the alleged gang-rape of Shamim Bibi.
She was raped by seven people last year, but the Jhal Chakian police declared almost all accused innocent. The inquiry officer has completed his investigation and is likely to finalize his report within four days.
The condition of Musarrat, whose both legs were amputated a couple of days ago, is still critical. She alleged that her brother-in-law, Farman Ali, wanted to marry her sister and on refusal he cut her legs.
But the police have made it a case of honour, saying she had loose morals. On the other hand, Farman Ali told the police that he had cut Musarrat's legs following an order by her husband who had been working abroad at present.
