Dipalpur accident claims 15 lives

OKARA, Feb 12: Fifteen people, including nine members of a family, were killed and 12 others injured, five of them seriously, in a head-on collision between a wagon and a bus near Pir Thi Hatti, on Thursday morning.

A wagon (LHO-3167) was going to Dipalpur from Okara when it collided with a bus (PO-1186) coming from the opposite side near Pir Thi Hatti. Fifteen passengers died on the spot while 12 others sustained injuries.

Those killed have been identified as Zahran Bibi, Haji Mohammad Husain, Mohammad Amin, Sher Ali, Rafia Bibi, Bashir Ahmad, Manzooran Bibi, Zainab Bibi and Mohammad Husain of Muzaffargarh, Khurshid Bibi of Chowk Azam, Ghulam Sabir and Iftikhar Masih of Chak 51/2-L, Ghulam Mustafa of Satghara. A six-year-old boy also killed in the accident remained unidentified till our going to press.

The injured have been identified as Kurshid Ahmad, Rashid Ali, Mohammad Ashraf, Mohammad Akbar, Mohammad Siddique, Mohammad Amjad, Begum Bibi, Nasreen, Kaneez Bibi and Amar Naseem. They were taken to the DHQ Hospital from where five of them were shifted to Lahore in serious condition.
