RAWALPINDI, Feb 16: A court here on Monday directed the district police officer, Syed Murrawat Ali Shah, to arrest seven police officials, including the assistant superintendent of Adiala Jail and an ex-magistrate , and present them before the court handcuffed on March 4.

Civil judge Ghazala Yasmin issued the arrest warrants of the officials for not appearing before the court to record their statements in a robbery case registered by New Town police, despite receiving show-cause notices from the court, due to which the trial of the case was facing inordinate delay.

Those who have been issued notices are: assistant superintendent Adiala Jail Jamshid Akhtar, ex-magistrate Amjad Ali, ASI CID staff Islamabad Falak Sher, SI Secretariat police station Sareer Hussain, inspector Mohammad Jamil and SI Fazlur Rehman of the New Town police station and SI I-9 police station Abdul Khaliq.

Meanwhile, special judicial magistrate Akram Bhatti sent a woman victim of domestic violence to Darul Amaan. The 28-year-old Nusrat Perveen, a resident of Bhalwal in Sargodha district, contended before the court that she had fled from her home because her husband, Mohammad Aslam, subjected her to violence.
