SHEIKHUPURA, Feb 20: The government has sacked 169 employees of Baitul Maal department on corruption charges. This was stated by Baitul Maal chief executive Brig Mohammad Sarfraz in the DCO's office.
He said the government was committed to clean the department of the corrupt employees as they had caused massive loss in the past. He said the department had earmarked Rs200 million for scholarship to deserving and needy students. It had also set up medical centres to provide health facilities to the poor patients.
The department had set up 15 handicrafts institution to impart education to the poor to enable them to earn their livelihood, he added. Brig Sarfraz said individual financial support has been increased from Rs1,000 to Rs1,200 per month to the needy and deserving.
He said under the food support programme Rs7 billion had already been distributed among deserving families during the last three years.
